GAP YEARS

So, you want to go on a Gap Year. We can without a doubt, one hundred percent tell you that this is one of the best decisions you can make! Don't listen to anyone who says different, a Gap Year is a great chance to get out into the world and mix it up. There is a lot of time for studying and university (which is also a pretty fun time by the way). Don't let anyone tell you that there is any rush to get to real life. Go travelling is our advice. See the world and have a few experiences. Mark Twain once wrote what to some may be read as a bit of overdone cheese, however it is just so appropriate and true that we had to include it in here:

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” Mark Twain was a very wise man.

Want to learn to dive? Then Durban is where its at. Want to get RYA yachting qualifications and go work in the Caribbean? Then Cape Town is the place to be. You get to choose and you get to mix it up as you see fit. Along with our legendary Experiences, we realise that some of you want to delve a bit deeper into your chosen interest and perhaps want to do something a little bit different. For this reason, Pepper offers some great placement options, ranging from a one week cocktail bar-tending course all the way through to an 2 Month pilots license placement.

Looking back on our Gap Years, there was a fairly unanimous conclusion that the placements we took part in we a key part of the Gap Year experience. Wether it was doing a SCUBA Diving course or learning how to surf, or perhaps spending a bit of time working in a charity shelter where every extra pair of hands help, these tangible results are what really set a Gap Year trip apart from a mere trip.
